Jesus gives one of the most important teachings ever spoken.
It’s called the Beatitudes.
Jesus shared this in what we now call the Sermon on the Mount.
The word beatitude means blessing — a deep, lasting joy that doesn’t depend on money, status, or comfort.
Here are the 8 Beatitudes in the simplest way:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
→ Those who know they need God, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. -
Blessed are those who mourn,
→ Those who feel sorrow and bring it to God, for they will be comforted. -
Blessed are the meek,
→ Those who are humble and gentle, not proud, for they will inherit the earth. -
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
→ Those who deeply desire to live right, for they will be filled. -
Blessed are the merciful,
→ Those who forgive and show compassion, for they will be shown mercy. -
Blessed are the pure in heart,
→ Those who are sincere and honest inside, for they will see God. -
Blessed are the peacemakers,
→ Those who bring people together, not apart, for they will be called children of God. -
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
→ Those who stay faithful even when it costs them, Rejoice and be glad because great is your reward in Heaven.

What Makes This Teaching So Powerful?
Jesus flipped the world’s definition of success while giving us a glimpse into God's kingdom.
The world says:
Be first. Be rich. Be Strong.
Win at all costs.
Jesus says:
Be humble. Be merciful. Be pure.
Stay faithful.
The Beatitudes show us that
real strength is found in surrender,
real greatness is found in humility, and
real joy is found in living God’s way.

These are not rules to follow — they are a picture of the heart God blesses.
Simple. Radical. Life-changing.
And as Jesus promises:
Those who live this way don't lose — they inherit the Kingdom.
